Windows 10 was the most awaited windows version we all were excited about. While Mac users are still waiting for El Capitan. So if you are a Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users can update to for free , But what if you use mac and still want windows 10 ?
The answer for that question is program called Bootcamp exist . This programs lets you to run 2 OS ( Windows and OS X) in one machine.
Before you get started, make sure you have least 5GB of free space and you buy a a Windows 10 license key if you want to use Windows 10 more then 30 days , License key will cost you $120 which is one-time fee.
Step 1 :
Download windows 10 ISO file from Microsoft’s software download page.Choose Windows 10 from the drop down menu, click confirm and choose your language. Then you can choose to download either a 32-bit version or a 64-bit version. We recommend going with the 64-bit version, but if your system is running 32-bit, then go for 32 bit .
Step 2 :
Now move Windows 10 ISO file from your downloads folder to your desktop. Then plug in your flash drive , for safety make sure there is no other external drives are plugged.
Step 3 :
Go to spotlight and type Boot Camp Assistant and open it or Go to Applications and then open utilities folder open Boot Camp Assistant. check all three tasks: Create a Windows 7 or later install disk, download the latest Windows support software from Apple, and Install Windows 7 or later.
Step 4 :
if you placed Windows 10 ISO elsewhere instead of Desktop then you may need to click on Choose and locate the file manually.Your flash drive will be automatically chosen as the install disk if it’s the only flash drive plugged in. Once Done, hit continue and you can choose the partition size for Windows 10.
Now if you want to use windows 10 for little while then you may want to leave extra space for any data or software you plan on installing. Windows 10 requires at least 20GB to install, so pick the right partition size for Windows because you can’t change this later on.
When thats all done then you can click on install and it’ll start partitioning the Mac’s drive and will restart your Mac. The Mac will automatically boot up from the flash drive and start the Windows Setup process.
Step 5 :
Now enter your Windows 10 product key which you purchased from Microsoft . Then installer will ask you where you want to install Windows. Make sure to select the partition that has the label “BOOTCAMP.” This is the partition we want to install Windows 10 on.
Step 6 :
Click on that particular partition and select Format, click OK, and hit next. Then you should now see Windows installing files and updates. This will take time so go and grab a coffee . After that, your Mac will boot up with Windows 10, and you’ll have to go through the normal steps of setting up a Windows computer.
Step 7 :
So when you log in for the first time in to Windows, you should see a Boot Camp installation message pop up; click next and follow the rest of the installation, reboot your Mac . Thats it DONE 🙂
