Apple has just announced the next version of iOS, unsurprisingly called iOS 9. With the latest version of its mobile platform, Apple is focusing on making it smarter and more powerful, starting with a major upgrade to the Siri virtual assistant. here is the list of new features in iOS 9 :

  • Like a great assistant, your device can now anticipate what you want to do next based on your location, the time, what app you have open, or what you’re connected to.

  • Plug in your headphones or connect to your car, and iPhone can suggest a recent playlist or audiobook.

  • If you add a location to an event in Calendar, iPhone will suggest when you should leave.

It even takes into account traffic along the way, in real time.

  • With iOS 9, you can search for more — including sports schedules, Netflix movies, and information inside apps.

  • When you grab your iPhone in the morning, it can suggest apps to open based on your daily routines.

  • If you want to be reminded of something you saw in Safari, your device can remind you to read that page.

  • Your device lets you create a Calendar event and add invitees, all without using the keyboard.

  • When you start adding people to an email, your device suggests the people you usually include with them.

  • If you search for how to make a chocolate cake, your device can open your favorite cooking app to the recipe.

  • In Spotlight, your device will suggest recent contacts, apps, or places you may be interested in.

  • Apple Pay will launch across the United Kingdom this July.

  • With iOS 9, you can add your favorite retail store cards to Apple Pay.

  • You can also add reward cards to Apple Pay, so you can easily earn and redeem rewards.

  • Hold iPhone up to the reader and Apple Pay automatically selects the right reward card.

  • With Apple Pay, Passbook has become so much more. So Passbook is being renamed Wallet.

It’s one place for all your credit and debit cards, reward cards, boarding passes, tickets and more.

  • You can add content from Safari, Maps, and other apps directly to your notes.

  • A new Transit view in Maps includes directions for public transportation like buses, trains, subways, and ferries.
  • News. All the news you want :

Articles in News combine interactive stories with beautiful editorial layouts, photo galleries, animations, and video.

Top publishers like The New York Times, ESPN, Condé Nast, and more will be making their content available in News.

News will be available in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

  • New multitasking features and tools on iOS 9 :

In iOS 9, switching between apps has been redesigned.

Slide Over lets you open a second app without leaving the one you’re in.

Split View allows two apps to be open and active at the same time on the same screen.

Picture in Picture scales a video down in size so you can keep watching a TV show while you reply to an email.

  • iOS 9 improves essential apps and multitasking features, search, performance, battery life, and security.

  • With average use, the iPhone 6 battery will last an additional hour with iOS 9.

  • iOS 9 takes less free space than iOS 8 to install. So it’s easier than ever for you to update.

  • The Health app can help you track everything from your workouts to how much water you drink.

It can now also track reproductive health, how often you’re seated, and UV exposure.

Apple will first release iOS 9 to registered developers, followed by a public beta in July. It will be available as a final release this fall and is compatible with devices as old as the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 from 2011.
